WARRINGTON Borough Council needs to be accountable for all that is happening in Warrington today.

The council needs to remove its heads from the sand and be accountable for the way premier sites are being removed and eradicated from the history of the town.

Sorry does not cut the mustard.

History is repeating itself with the hope that next week the Warrington people will forget.

Well we don’t forget, remember the Bay Horse, The General Wolfe (listed G2)? Recently the tree of souls, doing no harm to anybody, was removed overnight.

Walton Hall Golf Course will be the next gem to be ghosted, Warrington council forgets that in 1993 the course was voted second best municipal course in Great Britain (St Andrew’s was number one).

So let’s ruin it with lack of maintenance, inexperienced staff and general ignorance, in 2006 the course was at its lowest.

Members had left in their hundreds, new golf courses were allowed to open in and around Warrington.

The members’ club was sold back to the council due to high costs involved in bringing up to date with disability access and other issues (needed for weddings etc).

Since the club has been in council hands the standards have diminished.

The pro shop has changed hands, for the better, the course is looking and playing something like it used to.

This only leaves the facilities to be improved.

Golfers are returning due to the work of the pro-shop, the greens staff and general word of mouth that the course is now worthy of the fees charged.

Unfortunately due to council ostriches, societies are left with a great course no food, and minimal facilities.

Please don’t let this gem revert back to 2006.
