I AGREE with many of the comments regarding the difficulty of getting a doctor’s appointment at the Stockton Heath surgery.

However I do not believe that the fault lies totally with national government, or with the doctors themselves.

Some time ago there was a public meeting at St John’s Church on Wilderspool Causeway prior to the redevelopment of the Greenalls distillery on Loushers Lane.

I pointed out to the council representative that south Warrington was severely lacking in infrastructure.

There were/are no apparent plans for road development, schools, or importantly in this case doctors surgeries.

The council’s representative’s answer in a nutshell was that it would all be sorted out, which of course it has not been.

Since then there has been further residential development on the old Naylors timber yard, Greenalls Brewery, Greenalls Avenue, two nursing/residential homes and further plans for the garden centre site on Chester Road and the old rugby ground.

In all many thousands of new rate payers with very limited facilities.

So in my opinion the problems we are now encountering are down to the council’s headlong rush to create a massive urban sprawl without considering the needs and requirements or effect on existing and new residents in the area.
