I WORK in Warrington town centre and usually nip to the shops during my lunch hour.
But one day last week, I was running a bit late and it had actually gone dark by the time I was able to get out.
I walked up to Market Gate from the direction of Bridge Foot and was struck by just how gloomy Bridge Street was.
The street lights in that part of town are very pretty but actually cast very little light.
But what was really sad – and made the street really dark and dismal – was there was no light spilling from shop windows because of the high number of closed and boarded up units.
I don’t suppose they are likely to reopen any time soon so perhaps Warrington Borough Council could do something to improve the street lights.
The way it is at the moment is hardly welcoming to shoppers and visitors to the town.
