PEDESTRIANS have been struggling to pass the Mersey Bridge pool for the past two weeks.
It has collected on the south side of the bridge and is slowly turning into a leafy slippery trip hazard.
Most people are tip-toeing across ballet style when it’s particularly deep, otherwise it’s usually keep as close to the river side as possible.
Mum’s with prams have to plough straight through, while the hordes of students tend to steeplechase over the kerb, treating it like a water jump.
Could a drain be built directly into the river, it’s only a few meters to the side.
I’ve no doubt that this masterpiece of civil engineering will require months of planning and involve meetings with the Environment Agency and HSE, but it is a recurring hazard that needs to be resolved.
It won’t be too long now before it could freeze over and lead to all kinds of injuries or at the very least, the horrible gritty slushy mess of last year.
