TODAY, I received by hand an advertising flyer from Nick Bent, Labour party candidate, addressed to me personally.
No problem there, straight in the bin.
Then I watched the poster go to various houses nearby and he only put flyers through those houses that I know have voting preferences for other than Labour.
So the question here is how secret is your vote when you go to the voting booth and they give you a voting slip with a number on, that corresponds to a number on another sheet with your name and address on?
What happens to all these pieces of paper?
Moreover, how secret is your vote?
In contrast David Mowat’s crew knocked at all the doors in my street to give all households his advertising.
Those that didn’t open the door had the same paper pushed through the letterbox.
I am not suggesting impropriety by the Labour party but it does seem a bit of a coincidence that not all houses were given a personally addressed advert/letter.
