I’VE just arrived back home to Limerick with my partner after a visit to Warrington.

We visit the area occasionally to see an old friend and we usually take in a trip to either Manchester or Liverpool to watch a show.

This time however, we decided to stay in Warrington and visit the Pyramid to watch a performance of Rent which is one of my favourite shows.

The show was performed by local amateur society Encore and I have to say that although first of all being a bit disappointed with the venue, I was positively blown away by the actual performance.

The talent on show was absolutely superb and as good as I’ve seen anywhere and I’ve been to many shows including in the West End, Manchester, Liverpool, Dublin and other major cities and it was difficult to believe that what I had watched was from a purely amateur group.

On chatting to some of the group after the show they were extremely humble when I was telling them how good their performance was but the message that came through apart from how much they enjoyed doing their performances was how they struggle for funds, as it is a purely amateur group, and that the performances that they put on in the Pyramid had cost them money out of their own pockets.

There must be somebody in Warrington that can sponsor such a talented group of individuals and I am booking my next visit to Warrington to coincide with their next performance which they tell me is Bad Girls in June.

I will also be inviting family and friends to come over with me from Limerick to enjoy these performers and their show.

Come on people of Warrington you too should take the opportunity to enjoy them.
