I am constantly frustrated at the casual attitude of people who misuse disabled parking bays in shopping centres and supermarkets.
I have seen several cars over the past couple of weeks parked in disabled bays without displaying blue badges.
My mother suffers from multiple sclerosis, a debilitating disease of the central nervous system. It is not in her nature to make a fuss or complain to anyone misusing a parking bay, but we constantly struggle to find a space.
Several disabled people have told me that they have encountered the same problem because selfish, able-bodied drivers have parked in disabled bays.
By parking in these spaces, you are denying someone of their independence. The rules are simple – if you don’t have a blue badge, don’t park there and be grateful that you have the health and strength to able to walk a little further.
If this problem persists, I am going to set up a Facebook page and publish photos so that employers, customers and the police can see the way they misuse clearly marked disabled bays.
