REGARDING the letter in last week's Warrington Guardian.
I was attending the national breastfeeding awareness event on the Riverside Retail Park in June.
I was sent a parking charge from PCUK Riverside – overstaying by 23 minutes due to breastfeeding my then four-month-old baby who became distressed and I made the decision to breastfeed my baby in the car.
Two appeals both rejected.
I was advised to pay it then complain, the equality commission says I have been discriminated against us, under their pregnancy and maternity regulations – act a protected time as baby was under 26 weeks old at the time.
UKPC say breastfeeding your child does not permit you to stay longer.
British parking also will not waiver.
This is still ongoing. I am receiving letters that undermine breastfeeding mothers, I’m appalled and it has been very upsetting.
I have found the whole process of receiving the charge, appealing and having my concerns dismissed, demoralised and demeaning.
