IN recent years there have been patient criticisms, myself being one, of Warrington Hospital; but a few weeks ago I had a stroke while playing golf, an ambulance was called and from the moment it arrived to the day I was discharged from hospital and to the end of my aftercare at home, the professionalism from start to finish was tremendous.

The ambulance staff quickly realised what the problem was and had me in A and E within minutes, where I was attended to by doctors, again within minutes.

From that point I was fully informed of my condition, was given great advice and allowed to make my own decisions, which turned out to be the right ones.

The service I received from therapists, physios, optician and all nursing staff was immediate.

Even after leaving the ward, the attention I received in the discharge lounge was first class.

I am writing this because in the past 10 years or so I have been an in-patient at several other hospitals, in fact six, and this was probably overall the most professional.
