I USE my bank’s online banking facility regularly and it has recently revamped its website. During the logging off procedure this week a message came up inviting me to take part in a short survey asking about my satisfaction with the new site and saying I would receive a free gift for taking part.
I ticked a few boxes and was invited to choose a gift for which I was then asked to pay a £2 postage fee by credit card. That rang alarm bells. Hidden in the terms and conditions it said that in doing so I would be signing up to an auction website called Dandybids that would charge me £59.99 per month for membership.
I contacted the bank, which confirmed it was not conducting any surveys and this was obviously a scam.
I have since found out there have been judgements against this company. It also operates as Ziinga and Wippy.
