ONCE again Nick Bent has to have a go at the Tory MP (David Mowat) as being hopeless on the transport situation in Warrington.

In his speech on transport, at the Labour Party Conference, he must have forgotten, similar to Ed Milliband’s forgetfulness on immigration and the economy, that Warrington is nearly always run by a Labour council.

The council that has, for many years, destroyed the free passage of road vehicles around the town, shutting off side roads and closing duel carriageways to one lane.

Also putting in bus lanes so that hundreds of commuters are held up each morning on Knutsford Road and Wilderspool Causeway so something like 20 people in a part- filled bus get to the head of a long queue before being held up nearer the front .

By shutting off the centre of town to all traffic in favour of a pedestrianised zone, they have killed off most businesses there too.

I do hope that the proposed development regenerates this part of the town.

To say that David Mowat is hopeless is ridiculous as every news bulletin from him shows his concerns over the very things that Nick Bent says he is hopeless at.

In the Warrington Guardian , there is the talk, including that of David Mowat, over another river crossing in two plans.

The difficulties with the canal swing bridges is high on his agenda as the canal becomes busier.

So I suggest that Mr Bent comes up with some ideas rather than name calling and we will see if he is worthy of becoming an MP.
