IN response to Nick Bent (Labour Par liamentary candidate , Wa rr ington South), Opinion, Guardian, Au gust 14, ‘PM visited empty-handed’.

He sa ys: “The To ry PM had nothing to of fer on the issues that matter: new road tolls coming in for Wa rr ington dri ve rs on the Mersey bridges; traf fic chaos because of the Ship Canal sw ing bridges closing so often.”

It is laughable to blame Prime Minister Cameron wh en yo u look at wh o sits on the board of the Atlantic Gatewa y — namely Clr Te rr y O’Neil, Labour council leader .

The Atlantic Gatewa y has a business plan on its we bsite readily av ailable for the public to see re ga rding the waterwa ys betw een Li ve rp ool and Manchester and a toll bridge .

These issues must ha ve been discussed at meetings of the Atlantic Gatewa y board, and follo wing these meetings these issues must ha ve been fur ther discussed by the WBC and its executi ve .

I wo uld lik e to ask Mr Bent if he raised the issue about the impact on Wa rr ington caused by a re vo lution on the waterwa ys with WBC council executi ve .

Indeed, did Helen Jo nes , Labour MP for Wa rr ington Nor th, or any Labour councillors ask the question and ho w was this project recei ve d in the ear ly stages by Labour in Wa rr ington?

Did any one raise the issue about impact to businesses in Wa rr ington South caused by a re vo lution on the waterwa ys?

These are impor tant questions that Labour in Wa rr ington need to be able to ans we r their electorate because Nick Bent’ s credibility is at stak e here as he wants the electorate in south Wa rr ington to v ote for him to become their Labour MP in May.
