I AM writing in response to Chris Burke ,”the under nines coach” letter to the Warrington Guardian on July 10.

Chris has been asking the WBC to help with a small donation to get some fund raising started. The comments that he received from the WBC were “how would this help Warrington” and was subsequently offered nothing.

I also was very saddened by the council’s comments.

I could not believe it. Can the WBC not see how this will help the children of Warrington in so many different ways? They are our future and could also do wonders for the country and not just Warrington.

Also because of lack of funding Chris was not in a position to offer the Hilden team trainers over to Warrington to take part in a tournament next year in their twinned town and doubt that he could ever offer them the same. Warrington Council can you not help at all?

Good on the Mayor and everybody else involved from Hilden for giving the under nines from Warrington an excellent time when they were in their town. By the sound of it they could not have been made any more welcome. How much the children may have learnt and made new friends, and also have wonderful memories to treasure.

The Mayor of Hilden and the people who looked after the under nines should be very proud of themselves. I am proud for them, well done.

When in the town of Hilden the Mayor stated to Chris that communication with Warrington Council over the years has died down with emails and letters going unanswered. How shameful, the council needs to up its act and keep up with good communications. After all we are twinned with several towns.

Come on Warrington Council, make us proud. Get your act together and add your support to the community. Make the people of Warrington proud of you too.
