GREEN Lane in Padgate is a leafy tree-lined lane, or so it says on the internet description that any newcomer to the area will see when they are house hunting.
As a resident for nearly 40 years, I am disappointed and dismayed by how many trees have been removed in the past few years.
Yet another met its demise this week.
These trees have been in the lane longer than the residents who are having them removed, longer than the properties in some cases.
They give the lane its character. Why is there an incessant inclination to turn Green Lane into Brown Street?
