A question that I have pondered for a few years now, and one that I have asked of the town’s traffic enforcers, is, why is parking allowed on the west side of Crosfield Street?
One traffic enforcer told me that they had been told to ignore the parked cars, but no reason was given.
The executive officer spluttered an incoherent reply.
Why is parking allowed on this street? There are yellow lines and signs on the footpath indicating an interdict on parking. The yellow lines may need a little renovation after being neglected for so long.
The parking poses problems for traffic along Crosfield Street towards Tanners Lane and Priestley Street, particularly when traffis stands waiting for the lights to change to green.
When the traffic enforcers were first sent out onto the streets of the town they quickly gained a reputation that they stood for no messing, why has this situation changed?
We rarely see the enforcers outside of town, and unlawful parking in some areas is at epidemic level.
Can we have some sensible answers to this simple question, please?
