WHAT has happened to the Wire this season?
The expansive game which made them the most exciting side to watch has gone, replaced by a one out forward bash, with the occasional inside predictable pass. The off-load which was a Warrington speciality has gone.
Surely this can’t just be down to Lee Briers’ retirement? The Wigan display was dire with no imagination shown whatsoever, while the half backs might as well have not been on the field. Expansive, off-loading – forget it!
And why was Matty Russell, a full back, on the subs bench? When was the last time a full back was subbed except for injury? And when he finally came on he was a revelation.
There has been such a radical backward change in the Wire game that the question deserves an answer.
