Wigan defeat was latest

Wigan defeat was latest

WHAT has happened to the Wire this season?

The expansive game which made them the most exciting side to watch has gone, replaced by a one out forward bash, with the occasional inside predictable pass. The off-load which was a Warrington speciality has gone.

Surely this can’t just be down to Lee Briers’ retirement? The Wigan display was dire with no imagination shown whatsoever, while the half backs might as well have not been on the field. Expansive, off-loading – forget it!

And why was Matty Russell, a full back, on the subs bench? When was the last time a full back was subbed except for injury? And when he finally came on he was a revelation.

There has been such a radical backward change in the Wire game that the question deserves an answer.

Expansive play, off the cuff passes, offloads aplenty. The same plays which this time last year were getting players canned when they didn't work.

We are currently a team in the process of reorganisation and rebuild BUT inspite of this, taking the same fixtures last year and this we are better than last year overall.

My only "demand" is if you are given the opportunity to put on the P&B, you have to earn the right to keep it. It does appear that certain "big names" are keeping there position because of who they are rather than what they are bringing to the pitch.

Early days yet and it seems like Tony Smith is trying a few things out.

I'd like to see Stefan Ratchford and Reece Evans in the centres. "Rest" Bridge and Atkins for now. Matty Russell should start at full back every game for my money.

I just wish we got more open and honest information from our so called COMMUNITY club. TS interviews don't reveal any information the club website don't tell you either. If TS is having a play around and trying thinks out then just be honest and tell us. We not fools you know.

I think Bridge has been playing quite well, just drop Atkins, maybe try Ormsby at centre with Penny taking the wing spot. Also give GOB a game at 7 (i know he's naturally a 6) along side Ratchford instead of Myler

But surely the club/TS doesnt need to tell us. Rugby fans know that the first 26 weeks (OK, maybe about 18 of them) are all about trying things out, tweeking things which dont work, trying new combinations.

There are too many doubting Wire supporters this season (I guess most are glory supporters). The players need supporting, not abusing.
The team is in transition and we are in the early part of the season. I don't understand why people are panicking.
