I WOULD like thank Clr Sheila Woodyatt for her article ‘Call for Peel to tackle paths’.

The state of our access track is not fit for purpose owing to the potholes and the towpath height which is slowly rising.

Mrs Woodyatt mentions that pedestrians are at risk of slipping and tripping. We have friends who have gone into a pothole and fallen, one of them needing hospital treatment. Worryingly we are told that an ambulance would not come down to the cottages as the ground is so potholed it could cause death.

My husband and I have helped cyclists who have come off, in one case partially going into the canal.

This is now a much bigger issue with more people at risk than just the occupants of the cottages and I hope that Peel Holdings listen and rectify the situation before another tragedy happens.
