ALTHOUGH Allison Wright may have a valid point concerning the financial state of our town, I couldn’t possibly agree that the present ‘finger smudge’ qualifies as a ‘crest’.
The beautiful Warrington coat of arms should never have been removed in the first place. I have been reliably informed by a former leader of the council that the coat of arms cost the town around £200. The finger smudge by comparison cost thousands. Our near neigbours St Helens and Wigan have retained their coat of arms and rightly so. In previous letters I have highlighted the question of our town’s heritage, of which the coat of arms is part, and is in keeping with our Town Hall, Golden Gates and our rich history.
