WITH the announcement of the construction industry contracting 2.5 per cent in the quarter three GDP due largely to public sector cuts, I find it completely irresponsible of Warrington North Labour MP Helen Jones to oppose the Peel Hall development on the basis that the site is green belt.
Helen Jones has served a 1,000 strong signature petition against the development but the developer Satnam Millennium state that the site is not nor has it ever been green belt.
In this context Mrs Jones has misled the signaturies of her petition which is irresponsible opposition to much needed construction jobs and no doubt the creation of construction apprenticeships.
It would be a much needed economic boost to the town’s economy.
What message is Mrs Jones sending out to the private sector and potential investors, that Warrington is not open for business?
