Once upon a time there were always jobs in supermarkets..

I'm still looking for other jobs.

The job market isn't brilliant at the moment. One thing which I think isn't helping it is the fact that computers or machines now seem to be doing the jobs of people.

Once upon a time there were always jobs in supermarkets and now with self checkouts, you have one member of staff manning maybe eight of those little machines.

People may think it is over-exaggerating the issue, but I really don't think it is. Companies can justify employing less people when they have automated workers.

There was more in the news this week with people being replaced by machines. One day those enthusiastic, smiling people who push for self service checkouts or promote machines over people will find themselves out of work because their own job will be done by a machine.

Machines won't help people get back to work!
