Finally my treatment has come to an end! After 6 lots of chemotherapy, radical surgery, 3 more sessions of chemo and 15 2 hour round trips to Oldham for my daily radiotherapy, my medical treatment is finally over. Deep down in my heart I want to believe that the radiotherapy has finally killed off the last of those cancer cells lingering in the lymph vessels of my skin, so although I’m through with the treatment there still remains a big question mark that will linger for the next few weeks or possibly months.

Now I’m not the type to sit back and wait for the cancer to rear its ugly head again so I’ve decided to take some control over my healing process and hopefully build a defence so the cancer doesn’t return. Throughout this cancer journey I have taken a homeopathic remedy specifically designed to treat breast cancer and I am continuing with this remedy on a daily basis. Is it working? Who knows but it isn’t doing me any harm and I’m willing to give anything a try. My homeopath, Mandy Hall, has a huge belief in what she does and instils faith in me each time I visit her.

I’ve also discovered The Healing Codes with Jack Stewart. An amazing man who believes we can all heal ourselves if we allow stress to leave the body. By doing this we allow our immune system to work at its full potential and heal unwanted illness and disease. Again, it’s worth a shot and what I can tell you is that after only four sessions with Jack I feel mentally strong and positive about the future.

I have also discovered The Sanctuary of Healing in Blackburn, a charity and funded base for people to visit who choose an alternative way to heal themselves. I’ve had some psychotherapy there with Tony the owner and am booked in to sample some other things on offer in a few weeks when my radiation has worn off. The organic café is all that has enticed me for the moment but what a wonderful eating experience that was, which leads me on to my diet.

I have chosen not to eat the following due to the ‘feeding effect’ they supposedly can have on cancer cells: Sugar, caffeine, processed foods and alcohol. I only eat organic meat and snack on raw nuts, fruit and raisins and so far this week only water has passed my lips when I have needed a drink. Drastic it may seem but I somehow came to a place on this journey where I needed to play a part in ridding myself of cancer and when you want to live as much as I do, you will try anything. I don’t feel begrudged by not having the so called treats and luxuries I used to eat; in fact I’ve never felt better as I munch my way through organic salads, soup and vegetables.

After taking a handful of supplements and a cottage cheese and flaxseed oil smoothie to start my day, I still like to head off down to the gym or play tennis as keeping fit is so important to me. And even though my days will no longer be filled with hospital appointments, my alternative therapies are already taking over the columns on my calendar. No doubt I will miss the odd chocolate bar washed down with a nice, smooth bottle of red wine at the weekend, but if it means that by not having it I could be saving my life then water and nuts will just have to suffice! After I have visited a nutritionist today I will know more about what I can and can’t eat and how to detox first to rid my body of nasty toxins. But right now I’m off to have some Reiki, to relax me and allow my body to heal itself, all on its own!
