Warrington Wolves fan Matt Dolan's Rugby League World Cup Diary - part seven

Comments (0)Went to meet ex-Wire player Dave Wright today at Wynnum Manly Leagues Club.
He took time out from work to meet us for lunch.
The meeting was arranged via Mike Nicholas who played alongside Dave in the 1973/74 season.
Dave only played the one season for Warrington but what a season.
He has great memories of the cup-winning team coached by the great Alex Murphy.
He made a great second row partnership with Nicko.
He has visited the town a number of occasions and remembers especially the reunion in 1999 with the cup-winning squad of 74.
Dave is now employed in a senior position on a major roads project in Brisbane and is also employed as a television commentator for the Queensland Cup competition.
We had an in-depth discussion on all footy matters. His final comment was that with Mike Dolan, my dad, he had finally found somebody who could talk more footy than himself!
I'm sure he will visit Warrington again and he will be made very welcome by the fans who have great memories of Dave.
