JONATHAN Davies skippered Wales to the semi finals of rugby league's centenary World Cup in 1995.
He and his fellow countrymen, including many former Welsh Union internationals, attracted around 10,000 passionate Dragons supporters to make the journey to Old Trafford for the eagerly awaited clash with England.
It was Davies' third and final World Cup game as a Warrington player and, although it was not known on the day, it was his last game in rugby league, too.
Davies, who returned to his roots and a newly professionalised rugby union with Cardiff after the World Cup, kicked three goals in the 25-10 defeat to England.
The utility back, who found a home in the centres with Warrington, also slotted four goals and a drop goal in the quarter-final defeat of Western Samoa in Swansea.
Davies also landed three goals in the 28-6 defeat of France in their opening game of the tournament in Cardiff.
The Welsh hero, now a rugby summariser with the BBC, joined Warrington via Widnes in 1993, inspiring Warrington to a Championship race with Wigan and Bradford in his first season with the club.
He collected the game's Man of Steel and First Division Player of the Year awards at the end of 1993/94, as well as finishing top of Warrington's goal and try-scoring charts.
He played full back against Wigan in the 1995 Regal Trophy Final at Huddersfield - the last time Wolves reached a final.
