WORKHORSE Barry Philbin was one of five Warrington players picked by their club coach Alex Murphy in his role as England coach for the 1975 World Cup.
His one and only England cap came against France at Headingley on March 16 in a competition that was eventually won by Australia on a league table basis.
Murphy brought the loose forward to Warrington from Swinton in 1973, linking up with his brother Mike, and it was Murphy who took him away five years later after taking up the coaching reins at Salford.
Philbin helped Warrington to win the Players No6 Trophy, the Challenge Cup and the Club Championship in his first 16 games with the club.
