WEDDING couple Dave Richardson and Zoe Knowles have celebrated their last night of being single.

The former Penketh High School pair, who live in Shorwell Close, Great Sankey, have been marking the final weeks before tying the knot on March 3 with stag and hen dos which were fairly different.

Lance Sergeant Dave spent his stag weekend at Leicester Square, London on February 5.

The 35-year-old, who serves with the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, said: “We worked our way along the Circle Line, getting off at one station, going to the nearest pub and then back on the underground.

“I’ve been allowed to go home a day sooner from a training exercise than everyone else for the wedding rehearsal which is two days before the wedding.

“I’ll probably end up turning up still covered in camouflage paint at the church!”

The weekend was organised by Dave’s best man Stan Boardman, from Bolton. They have been in the Army together for 15 years.

Dave added: “I was a bit concerned what they had got planned for me.

“We started off in the Army camp and my main worry was that I wouldn’t make it back through the gates.

“The only rule from Zoe was that I wasn’t allowed to phone her during the weekend.”

Zoe, aged 35, spent the weekend at home with her two girls Anya, aged five, Caitlin, aged four, looking forward to her hen night on Saturday at La Boheme in Lymm.

She said: “I think it’s going to be a much more civilised affair than Dave’s weekend. It’s going to be a day of pampering and then going for a meal.

“We’ll probably all be home by 10.30pm but at least I won’t have a hangover the next day.”

Sports psychologist Zoe said while Dave managed to keep his word and not call her during his stag weekend, she did hear from the rest of the party.

She said: “They couldn’t organise themselves so I kept getting calls asking where everyone was, “I felt like a travel agent. I’m looking forward to Saturday but hoping there won’t be any surprises.”
