AN ELECTION showdown which could transfer control of Bromley Council from the Liberal Democrats and Labour to the Conserva-tives will be on July 5.
Voters from the Mottingham and Chelsfield districts will decide who will replace Liberal Democrat Graeme Pe-ters and Labour's Rob Yeldham, who both resigned their seats in the spring.
The council is currently run by a Liberal Democrat and Labour coalition of 30 members who use the Mayor's casting vote to outnumber the Tories, who also have 30.
If a Conservative is successful in one of the elections then Tory leader Councillor Michael Tickner will take over the leadership of the council in the run-up to the borough-wide local elections in 12 months.
