“ON a typical match day I will check the press room has been set up before everyone arrives, make sure everyone has got the equipment they need and sort out team sheets for the press.

“Throughout the game I’ll post updates for Facebook and Twitter and then organise the post match press conferences.

It can be difficult after we’ve lost but there are players you know will be okay to talk and the coaches always know how to respond to the press.

“I started this role in April 2009 and got to go to Wembley for the Challenge Cup final the same year.

“It’s an experience in any sport but to do it in the first couple of months of the job was brilliant.

“As a fan I get very excited but have to keep a level head to write match reports or meet deadlines.

“Everybody within sport is very friendly and approachable and all the media officers help each other out.”
