Hugh Grant is launching a clear-up crusade after being dogged by a new problem on his doorstep.
The actor said he is being plagued by a daily dollop of dog poo left outside his door and is now trying to find the culprit.
Hugh - who has for many years faced photographers on his step - suggested it may be retribution for his campaign to clean up the activities of the Press.
In an interview to be screened on BBC One's The Graham Norton Show tonight (Friday), he joked that it could be revenge for taking on the media.
The star said: "In PR terms it wasn't a classic move to take on the press, but luckily because I don't do many films any more it's not such a worry to me.
"I am worried about other forms of revenge though - someone is leaving dog mess outside my door every day.
"I have become more obsessed about finding out who that is than smashing the worst parts of the press."
The 51-year-old also said the appeal of acting had waned over the years.
He said: "I am shy and I slightly lost my enthusiasm for most acting. If I prepare a part on my own, I am hilarious and moving, but then I get on a set and I tend to freeze and the older I get the more I freeze."
