Warrington Wolves go to St Helens on Saturday - Wigan pick Leeds

WARRINGTON Wolves will have to beat St Helens at Langtree Park next Saturday night if they are to reach their first Grand Final at Old Trafford on October 6.

League Leaders' Shield winners Wigan have chosen to host Leeds Rhinos after exercising their ClubCall right, with that game taking place on Friday night at the DW Stadium.

Wolves won 22-12 last month in the only previous meeting at Saints' new ground but the Red V men stole play-offs home advantage off Warrington with their win at The Halliwell Jones Stadium last weekend.

In announcing the ClubCall opponents, Wigan chairman Ian Lenegan said: "We believe that on their day, playing well, any one of the four teams can beat each other.

"But the home advantage in the semi final is of critical importance and perhaps should be used by Wigan against Warrington who are suffering somewhat with injuries at this time.

"On the other hand Wigan have beaten Leeds two times out of three this year and with home advantage we might feel confidence.

"Neutrals generally in the main think Wigan against Warrington would make the best and most apt Grand Final, particularly since St Helens and Leeds have had more than their fair share over the last few years by their success in Grand Finals.

"So Wigan choose, not surprisingly, Leeds as their opponents in next weekend's semi final to allow the best chance of that happening.

"We look forward to leaving St Helens and Warrington to batter each other in the other semi final and look forward to meeting one of them in the final if we do beat Leeds."
