TONY Smith has given an injury update.

Wolves and England back rower Ben Westwood is set to miss Saturday's elimination semi final against Hull but fellow forward Ben Harrison is available at this stage after overcoming a knee injury.

Doubts remain over Garreth Carvell recovering from back spasms suffered in the weekend's defeat to St Helens in time to figure against his former club but the prop is keeping his hopes alive and Wolves will give him as long as possible to prove his fitness.

Smith is 'optimistic' of full back and goalkicker Brett Hodgson overcoming the back injury he picked up against St Helens and Trent Waterhouse is 'good to go' despite his broken nose.

Wolves' head of coaching and rugby said: "Not this week for Bennie Westwood.

"It would be too much of a risk for this week. If we get past this week I reckon Bennie will be very close for the week after."

Westwood has missed all three games since suffering medial knee ligament damage in the Challenge Cup Final victory over Leeds Rhinos at Wembley last month.

Smith added: "Ben Harrison will be right this week and comes back into the squad. He just wasn't quite right last weekend.

"We're still assessing Garreth Carvell. He's hopeful but is probably the one who is most struggling out of the injury situation.

"We haven't closed it off as an option yet. He's undergoing physio and rehab with his back."

He added: "Hodgo's progressing well and it's optimistic for him but again we'll leave it a little bit longer in the week before we make any firm decision."

We will miss Ben especially when Hull come at us early doors, they will be up for it as are their fans, they are really confident.

Fingers crossed for Carvell but if not so be it we have a squad, come on Wire.

We should have enough to get past Hull without Benny but it goes without saying if we go to Langtree Park next week he'd be a big miss if he's still out
