SQUAD NEWS: Smith rests players for Super League clash with Castleford Tigers

WARRINGTON Wolves have rested players for the Super League trip to Castleford Tigers on Sunday, kick off 3.30pm, following last week’s Challenge Cup semi-final success.

Wolves boss Tony Smith said on Tuesday that he has a number of players back at his disposal and with an almost fully fit squad to choose from, he would give those that missed out against Huddersfield Giants last week a chance to try and secure their place for Wembley on August 25.

Long-term injury sufferers Richie Myler and David Solomona return to the squad along with Matty Blythe, replacing Garreth Carvell , Trent Waterhouse and Chris Bridge after they suffered knee swelling following the Challenge Cup win at Salford City Stadium.

Wolves have won their previous six meetings with Tigers -not suffering a defeat at Tigers’ ground since 2008- but following Castleford’s 50-point demolition of Giants, Smith is wary that Ian Millward’s side are hitting form.

Smith said: "Castleford had a terrific last outing against Huddersfield and they are going to be a difficult proposition for us.

“We've got a couple of players carrying little niggles after last weekend so we'll need some replacements there but we've also got some players waiting for their opportunity to show their wares, they need to play and show some form as well."

Wolves: Ryan Atkins, Matty Blythe, Lee Briers , Mike Cooper , Ben Harrison , Micky Higham, Chris Hill, Brett Hodgson, Tyrone McCarthy , Joel Monaghan, Michael MonaghanAdrian Morley , Richie Myler, Gareth O’Brien, Stefan Ratchford, Chris Riley , David Solomona, Ben Westwood , Paul Wood.
