Michael Monaghan believes Warrington Wolves will get better every week

Michael Monaghan believes Wolves will click into top gear as the season reaches its climax Michael Monaghan believes Wolves will click into top gear as the season reaches its climax

MICHAEL Monaghan says Wolves’ plan is to improve every week as the season builds towards the final silverware chase.

The 32-year-old hooker has been impressed with the team’s progress during his 12-week absence following double knee surgery but says improvements must still be made.

“We were probably below our best for the first half of the season and that was a combination of a lot of injuries to some key people and we’ve also adopted the tactic of resting a few people, which also plays a part.

“Hopefully, resting a few will give us an advantage of finishing strongly in the back half of the season and that’s what the coaching staff are looking at.

“But we can’t leave it until the final few weeks. We need to be ramping it up now and I think we’re doing that.

“It’s certainly good signs, especially when you think of the players who were still missing against Hull.

“We need to keep improving and it’s something that we’ve spoken about - making sure every week we’re doing a bit better than the week before.

“We definitely don’t want to be putting in some ordinary performances leading up to the Challenge Cup semi final (Huddersfield Giants, July 15).

“You want to be going into that on the back of some momentum and some confidence.

“I’m sure Huddersfield will be doing the same , looking to build some good performances and getting some confidence back.

“We’re happy with where we are at but we know we’re going to have to get better to win the semi final and then continuing through to the final as well.”

He obviously meant after tonight!!! Total lack of leadership on the field and a really onesided penalty count . proof you cannot win without the ball. Since Groupon were offering 2 tickets for £15 online and we had paid full price will Simon offer us half our money back as Warrigton only played at half pace????????
