Michael Monaghan has been out of action since March but will test his fitness in the 9s competition tonight
Michael Monaghan and David Solomona will make a return to competitive rugby for Warrington Wolves’ 9s team at Salford City Stadium tonight, with the first game set to start at 7.30pm.
Monaghan’s recovery from knee surgery has kept the influential number nine out of action since the loss to St Helens in March, while second row David Solomona is yet to play a Super League game in 2012 after breaking his leg during the club’s tour of Australia in January.
Wolves’ first team coach Richard Marshall said: “It will effectively be a tough training session for them, as we are able to make unlimited substitutions during the matches.
“We will be able to get them back into it carefully, which will be important considering the length of time they have been out of action.”
Wolves' 9s squad will travel to the Salford City Stadium to face Salford, Gloucestershire and London in the third round of matches.
Wolves’ 9s squad: Callan Beckett, Gavin Bennion, Danny Birkett, Brooke Broughton, Jordan Burke, Jack Cooper, Brad Dwyer, Jake Eccleston, Andy Finn, Bobbie Goulding, Ben Hellewell, Liam Hulme, Tyrone McCarthy, James Mendeika, Michael Monaghan, David Solomona, Scott Turner.
