Wolves fans want to be allowed to hang up banners in the Halliwell Jones Stadium
PASSIONATE Warrington Wolves fans are urging the club’s powers to allow them to display banners at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Supporters’ banners backing Wolves’ cause – particularly those made by well known fan ‘Arsenal Al’ – have been seen at home and away grounds for decades but health and safety officers have prevented them from being put on display at Wolves’ den this year.
Al pointed out he was representing the views of many terracers when he said replicating the banner-decorated South Stand of Wigan Warriors’ DW Stadium would help to lift the atmosphere at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, which has been quieter than past seasons in 2012.
Wolves’ chief executive Andy Gatcliffe, who, along with the club’s directors has been sent letters of appeal from Arsenal Al, said the matter was being considered.
“The issue has been referred to our health and safety group meeting which will take place over the next few weeks.
“It’ll be discussed and we’ll take it from there.”
It is understood that one of the concerns is whether or not banners are flame retardent.
