Wolves unveil new charity shirt

WARRINGTON Wolves have launched this year’s charity shirt which is on sale now in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Following the support and interest of the Warrington public towards last year’s charity shirt, the club have once again chosen a charity close to its heart.

Last year, former player and coach Paul Darbyshire died after suffering from Motor Neurone Disease.

The shirt and training top available this year incorporate the striking bright colours of the charity and are on sale now in WolfWare and online.

The team will wear the shirt when Leeds Rhinos come to The Halliwell Jones Stadium in round 17 on Sunday 10th June, 3pm.

An awareness campaign will run in the lead-up to this game and on match day a bucket collection will also be held in aid of the charity.

A Wolves statement says: "The Motor Neurone Disease Association is a smaller charity than that supported last season but is of great national importance.

"MND is a disease of the nervous system. It attacks the nerves that control movement; people with MND can still think and feel, but their muscles weaken and waste, leaving them locked into a failing body, unable to move, walk or talk.

"There are about 5,000 people in the UK living with MND at any one time. There is currently no diagnostic test, very little alleviating treatment and no cure.

"The MND Association is a leader in the funding and promotion of the world’s most groundbreaking and pioneering research into MND."

Ben Sharpe, corporate fundraising officer of MND Association, said: "The MND Association is thrilled and excited to be working with Warrington Wolves this season.

"The support of such a sporting giant is vital for us to help achieve our vision of a world free of MND, with their support and that of their supporters we will be able to help local people living with, and affected by the disease."

A £5 donation will be made to the MND Association from the sale of each charity replica shirt and £2.50 from each charity training top sold.
