JOSH Charnley will be in The Wire’s 19-man squad for Friday’s game against Wakefield Trinity, head coach Steve Price has confirmed.

The winger returned to rugby league by signing a deal until November 2020 at The Halliwell Jones Stadium having left Wigan to join rugby union side Sale Sharks in 2016.

Charnley trained for his new teammates for the first time yesterday and Price told the Guardian a decision will be made on his involvement later in the week.

“It was unfortunate that it wasn’t to be for him at Sale, but it’s great to have players like Josh back in the game,” he said.

“He’s trained with us this week. He’ll be in our 19 and I’ll make a decision on him later on in the week.”

Price also confirmed Ryan Atkins is back in contention for Friday’s game having missed Saturday’s win at Catalans Dragons with an abductor muscle injury, but Dom Crosby is not yet fit to return from a knee complaint.

“Ryan is doing really well. He’s doing everything right in his rehab and will be in the 19.

Dom Crosby will need another week to get over his injury, but Ryan will be in the 19.”

The Wire will announce their full squad for the game at 12pm today.
