WOLVES have confirmed they are looking to recruit a second-rower.

Benjamin Jullien, a regular in The Wire’s back row in 2017, left for Catalans Dragons on Monday after stating a desire to return to France.

Jullien becomes the fifth second-rower to leave Wolves, following Joe Westerman, Andre Savelio, Matty Blythe and Sam Wilde through the exit door at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Ben Murdoch-Masila has arrived, while Ben Currie, Jack Hughes, Joe Philbin and Ben Westwood are the other recognised back rows.

Chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick confirmed Wolves would be looking to bring somebody in to fill the hole left by Jullien.

He also says head coach Steve Price has not yet ruled out-of-contract centre Ben Pomeroy out of his plans, despite the arrival of outside back Mitch Brown from Leigh Centurions.

“Ben expressed his desire to leave. We explored a few different options but ultimately, he just didn’t want to come back,” he said.

“It does mean we’ve got some salary cap space available to bring somebody in, so we’re actively in the market.

“We’re monitoring the World Cup, so we’ll see what develops from that.

“We’d maybe be after someone who could cover centre and back row. We’ll just see who’s available and at what price.

“Steve is still considering his options, one of those options may still be Ben Pomeroy.

“We’ll see what materialises, but it’s not necessarily the end for him.”
