BRYSON Goodwin says he knew he was joining "a big club" after signing for Warrington Wolves.

The New Zealand international had agreed to join Leigh Centurions for 2018, but Wolves had an offer for his services accepted by Neil Jukes' side.

Goodwin arrives on a two-year deal and becomes Wolves' second signing for 2018 after Penrith forward Sitaleki Akauola.

The 31-year-old says England star Sam Burgess, a teammate at former club South Sydney, gave Wolves a glowing report and that he was excited about the move.

"I’ve only heard really good things about Warrington from past players who have played at the club," he said.

"I also spoke to Sam Burgess and he only had good words to say too.

"Everyone knows it’s a big club and I’m looking forward to joining.

"I’m looking forward to meeting the players and staff at Warrington and getting to know the members and fans of the club too, and then ripping into training.

"With a new coach to come on board as well it’s a fresh start for Warrington which is good.”

Goodwin, who has played at centre, wing and full-back during his long NRL career, arrives as a replacement for Peta Hiku, who is returning to New Zealand for family reasons.

The former Cronulla and Canterbury man gave Wire fans an indication of what they could expect from him next year.

"I’ve played a fair bit now so I will look to bring that experience and hopefully add something in both defence and attack, and play some good football," he said.

"I really like the Super League; I’ve been watching a lot of it recently since I signed over there and from what I’ve seen it’s a really good competition and is getting better and better every year.

"The quality is high and am looking forward to playing in it."
