ANDRE Savelio admits there were “a few tears” after his final game for Wolves.

The forward marked his farewell appearance for his hometown club with two tries in Saturday’s 46-24 victory over Hull Kingston Rovers.

The 22-year-old is joining NRL side Brisbane Broncos next season but he says walking off the Halliwell Jones Stadium pitch for the last time was hard to take.

“It’s going to be tough and there’s been a few tears!” he said.

“I’ve loved playing here with some lads I’ve played with since I was younger and I’m really grateful to have got that chance.

“I’m really looking forward to Brisbane. It will be tough but I think it will be the making of me.

“I’m going down there in November but I’ll have a few weeks off before thinking about next year.”

Savelio spent plenty of time after Saturday’s game saying goodbye to fans.

“After the year we’ve had, it means a lot that the fans have continued to turn out and support us,” he said.

“I enjoyed it out there! It was a good way to cap off what has been a bad year for us as a team.

“We’ve come up a bit short and we’ve underachieved but I’ve really enjoyed my time here.

“I knew a lot of the boys before I came here. I had a lot of friends for life and now I have even more.

“I’ll be watching them next year and I’m sure they will come back fighting.”
