KEVIN Brown says the constant changes of personnel have been a big contributing factor to Wolves’ poor start to the 2017 Super League season.

The Wire have not able to field the same team as the week before in any of their four games since the season opener against Catalans Dragons on February 11.

Having joined the club from Widnes Vikings in the off-season, Brown himself has already played alongside Dec Patton and Harvey Livett in the halves.

The 32-year-old believes things will turn around when they get some continuity in their team selection.

“We’ve had a lot of changes in the side, our full right edge has changed twice through injuries and illness,” he said.

“It’s not an excuse but we do need that continuity. We’re starting to get some key players back now so that consistency in selection can only serve us well.

“I’ve already had two half-back partners this season in Dec Patton and Harvey Livett. As a half you need to strike up partnerships.

“With all the changes, that’s been very difficult to do.

“Hopefully we can get Kurt Gidley pinned down in position alongside me when Stef Ratchford comes back and the three of us can work on our link-up.”

England international Brown enjoyed a fine start to his Wolves career, playing a starring role on his debut in the World Club Series win over Brisbane Broncos.

Wolves have lost every game since then and Brown admits there are things within his own game he needs to improve upon.

However, he says he is focused on having “his best game yet” against Leigh Centurions.

“I’ve been happy with aspects of my game. I feel I’ve created a few opportunities and I’ve been working hard defensively,” he said.

“There’s areas I need to improve. I wasn’t happy with my kicking against Wigan and I was pretty comfortable with it before that.

“I’m building nicely into the season but I’m still looking to find a bit of a flow. I know I’ve got a lot to work on and I’m aiming to have my best game tonight.”

Brown will be part of the Wolves side that travels to face a Leigh outfit that has won two of their three home games since returning to Super League.

St Helens and Huddersfield have both left Leigh Sports Village pointless in recent weeks and Brown says his teammates know exactly what to expect.

“They’ve been good, they’ve recruited very well and have a very aggressive pack with the likes of Gareth Hock, Danny Tickle, Atelea Vea and Glenn Stewart,” he said.

“You can add Jamie Acton and Harrison Hansen in there as well. If we expect to just turn up and win, we’ll get burnt.

“We know what we’re up against, they are a solid side and we have to perform to our best but if we do that, I know we’ll win.”
