JACK Hughes says Wolves have gone “back to basics” in preparation for tomorrow’s World Club Series clash with Brisbane Broncos.

The Wire opened their Super League campaign in disappointing fashion last weekend with a 20-12 defeat to Catalans Dragons.

Wolves attack was lacking in Perpignan but Hughes is confident they will be better in that respect against Wayne Bennett’s side.

He admits they were “all over the place” in France but believes the addition of debutant Kevin Brown will give them more of an edge.

“We’ve worked quite a bit on our attack as we weren’t very impressive in that respect last week,” he said.

“We’ve gone back to what we know best, back to basics. We’ve put it into practice and we look and feel a lot better.

“Kev is a very good organiser and a smart rugby player. He’ll push us around the park and I think that’s what we’ve missed.

“We looked a bit all over the place last week but Kev is a good leader and will help get our attack right.”

Tomorrow’s game will not be Hughes first taste of action against Australian clubs. He started at second row for Wigan when they travelled Down Under for the 2014 World Club Challenge.

Hughes’ side were on the wrong end of a 36-14 scoreline against Sydney Roosters on that occasion but he says he’s ready for another shot at the Australians.

“We’re really excited, it’s a good opportunity for us to put a marker down and show what we’re really about this year,” he said.

“We’re taking it very seriously, it’s a game we want to win and we’re confident we can win. It will be good to get the win out there to put one on the board for Super League.

“There aren’t too many good memories from the game against the Roosters for me! It was a great experience going out to Australia and playing a team like that.

“I feel like I’ve come on as a player and a person since then so I’m looking forward to having another shot at it.”
