KEVIN Brown says his move to Wolves will allow him to “get out of his comfort zone.”

The 32-year-old joins The Wire after four seasons with neighbours Widnes, where he had been captain since 2015.

After joining up with his new teammates on Monday, Brown now says the challenge of playing a different style of rugby excites him.

“I was at Widnes for four years and got used to playing in a certain way,” he said.

“It would have been easy to stay there and stay in my comfort zone but this feels like somewhere I can really challenge myself to be better.

“The yardage Warrington gain with their plays is just frightening, all of which helps me and the other half-backs do our jobs.

“There’s a great forward pack here and the back-rowers and outside backs are all international class. Playing within this set-up really excites me.”

Despite a career spanning 347 appearances including five England caps, Brown has never won a major trophy since making his first-grade debut in 2003.

However, Brown is determined to change that statistic with Wolves.

“It was a tough decision in one aspect to leave Widnes because I was really happy there and wasn’t looking to leave,” he said.

“At the same time, the challenge of winning a trophy is one I couldn’t refuse. That’s why I’m here. I’m ambitious and I want to win things.

“Being coached by Tony was another big draw, he has an outstanding reputation in the game.”
