IT can help to be happy at work by being happy at home – and having good neighbours can play a part!

The living arrangements of the 2008 to 2010 stage, leading to Ben Harrison’s favourite period in Warrington Wolves colours, contributed to the character and personality of a team that recorded historic back-to-back Challenge Cup Final wins.

Harrison described himself and teammates Chris Bridge, Jon Clarke, Ben Westwood, Richie Barnett and Mark Gleeson establishing a themed area of residence.

“They were good years,” said Harrison, who had to grow up quickly after leaving his Cumbria home straight after his school exams to turn full-time professional with Wolves.

“Bridgey (teammate Chris Bridge) moved down from Oldham and needed somewhere to live,” he recalled.

“Michael Sullivan (former teammate) was just leaving and I’d been living with him. So I had room in the house.

“It ended up that Paul Wood, who was living next door to Bennie Westwood, was leaving so we rented his house next door to Bennie.

“So we had a good little relationship there. On the same street, Jon Clark had a flat, and there was Richie Barnett and Mark Gleeson too.

“It was like the Coronation Street of Warrington Wolves and there was always loads going on.

“That environment of the relationships I had with people was special.

“Bridgey did 10 years and I did all my time at the club with him, likewise Grixy (Simon Grix) and Bennie Westwood.

“I’m quite lucky in the relationships and friendships that I’ve got.

“There’s comings and goings all the time in rugby league, but to have had a squad that has kept that many people together for large amounts of time has been really special.

“Woody and Micky Higham did long stints at the club. The quality of people the club had was brilliant.

“It made it so easy to make the decision to keep re-signing, staying here and being part of what was and is so enjoyable.”
