Warrington Wolves Res 34 Hull FC Res 6.

WOLVES’ second string got back to winning ways in style as they swept aside Hull FC at Victoria Park Stadium.

After suffering a heavy defeat to the same opponents on Humberside three weeks ago, Stuart Barrow’s men gained revenge in front of a large crowd on Saturday.

Barrow was able to call on the likes of Kevin Penny, Dec Patton and Benjamin Jullien but it was the visitors who made the early breakthrough when Jack Downs crossed for a converted try.

However, that was as good as it got for the Black and Whites as Penny squeezed over in the corner, with Patton’s conversion levelling the scores at half-time.

The Wire stepped up a gear after the break and, after Daniel Murray had got them up the field with a 60-metre break, Penny soared high to collect Patton’s kick and touch down to give them the lead.

After another lengthy break, this time from Tyler Whittaker, Wolves stretched the lead when Patton’s flat pass put Harvey Livett over left of the posts.

Half-back Patton went from provider to scorer for The Wire’s fourth try as he stepped through the cover on the left to score before Jacque Peet crossed on the right.

Jullien had the final say in the last minute when he crashed over from Patton’s short ball to complete a superb victory for Barrow’s men.
