WOLVES Under-19s head coach Lee Briers hailed the display of his side after they bounced back from defeat last time out to record a superb 42-22 win at Salford Red Devils on Thursday evening.

A hat-trick from Harvey Livett helped Wolves to a convincing win, with Ellis Gillam, Declan Kay and Jack Fox also contributing tries.

Despite a purple patch from the hosts in the second half which brought them back into the game, Briers said his side never looked like losing the contest.

“I was absolutely delighted with the way that the boys went about their business tonight; some of our attacking play was top class whilst our defence was very good for most of the game,” he said.

“Salford had a strong ten minute spell in the second half where they scored three tries but we never lost our composure and we just knuckled down and got back on top and finished the game very strong.”

Whilst Livett’s contribution will grab the headlines, Briers was full of praise for the work of every Wolves player at the AJ Bell Stadium.

“Salford asked plenty of questions that we answered with the way we controlled the game,” he said.

“The effort that every player put in was really pleasing and even though there were some fine individual performances it was the collective contribution from all the lads that helped us to secure a fine win.”

The youngsters can now enjoy a week off before returning to action on Thursday, May 26, against Bradford Bulls at Odsal.
