WOLVES will be aiming to avoid becoming the latest victims of the Oldham fairytale when they travel to Bower Fold on Saturday.

Scott Naylor’s part-timers defied the odds to dump out Super League side Hull KR in the last round.

Their 36-22 win at Craven Park against last season’s cup finalists came about thanks to tries from Richard Lepori (twice), Will Hope, Steve Roper, Adam Clay and Gary Middlehurst.

In their first season back in the Championship, they currently sit 10th in the table and are on a decent run of form having won three of their last four league games.

Victories over Batley Bulldogs and Sheffield Eagles preceded the cup win, which was followed by a defeat to Whitehaven and an impressive win over Featherstone Rovers.

Half back Lewis Palfrey is a danger from the kicking tee as he has established himself among the leading kickers in the Championship with 25 goals so far, as well as six in the Hull KR tie.

However, like Wolves, Roughyeds are struggling with injuries, with reigning Player of the Year Danny Langtree missing with an ankle injury.

Prop Jack Spencer will also sit out with a broken hand picked up in last weekend’s win over Featherstone, while back rower Craig Briscoe and centres Tom Ashton and Jon Ford are also in the treatment room.

Forward Joe Burke is cup-tied, but Naylor is likely to be boosted by likely returns of winger Jamel Chisolm and forward Liam Thompson.
