WOLVES chief executive Roger Draper has committed his immediate future to the club and the move has been hailed as further indication of the dream to turn the Wire into global champions.

The former British tennis supremo, who joined the club in March 2015, has signed extended terms although the timeframe has not been disclosed.

Draper’s decision, along with Tony Smith signing an extended contract, provides Wolves with stability on and off the field and he said he was looking forward to a "very exciting period" at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

“I want to stay and continue to develop the club and the team,” said Draper, who also served as the chief executive of Sport England.

“We are entering a very exciting period. We have a strong squad, financial stability, an outstanding board of directors and huge support from our brilliant fans.”

Draper’s 12 months in charge have brought much change, including new branding, a fans membership scheme and improved supporter experiences at matches.

Warrington Wolves chairman Professor Steven Broomhead said: “The excellent news that Roger Draper is also extending his contract shows we are totally serious about establishing the club to be the best in the world.

“In the past year Roger has demonstrated both vision and delivery to continually improve our club off the pitch and alongside Tony he has brought about a total culture change here which is being appreciated by our fans, sponsors, players, community clubs and our board.”
