WARRINGTON Wolves players have been allocated as ambassadors for each of the town’s junior rugby league clubs.

Each of the seven clubs has been designated a pair of players from the first team squad who will support their junior rugby league event through the year.

Stefan Ratchford and George King will be ambassadors for Bank Quay Bulls, the Evans brother will be working with Burtonwood Bulldogs and star half back Chris Sandow will represent Crosfields alongside Ben Harrison.

International prop Chris Hill and Joe Philbin will work with Culcheth, new boy Kurt Gidley and academy product Declan Patton will be ambassadors for Latchford Unicorns and Rylands Sharks will be represented by Ben Westwood and Harvey Livett.

The seventh club Woolston Rovers will have Ashton Sims and Tom Lineham as ambassadors.

Community coach and former Wire forward Lee Mitchell will act as the link between the community teams and the club.

Shaun Briscoe, rugby league manager at the club, said: “We are delighted to be bringing our Super League players closer to the community clubs and the future stars of our great game, giving them something to aspire to.

“We look forward to developing these partnerships throughout the season and encouraging even more participation across these seven clubs.

“We’d like to thank the players who have volunteered their time as ambassadors and who will support the development of rugby league within the town.

“We will be celebrating these partnerships by giving each of the clubs a focus game throughout the season, starting with Crosfields at the St Helens fixture in April.”
