LEE Briers will be putting on his boots again this weekend in tribute to his former Wales teammate Danny Jones.

Briers, the Wolves Under 19s head coach who retired at the end of 2013, has Tweeted that he will feature in the Halifax XIII v World XIII game at The Shay on Sunday, with all proceeds going to the Danny Jones Fund.

Stand off Jones died in May after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing for Keighley Cougars against London Skolars.

Briers' last match was Wolves' Grand Final defeat against Wigan at Old Trafford exactly two years ago, today.

Two days later Briers will join some other former Wolves players in an extraordinary challenge, while raising funds for the Steve Prescott Foundation.

Briers will accompany the likes of Adrian Morley, Garreth Carvell, Mike Wainwright, Neil Harmon and Alan Hunte in a party of 36 attempting to climb the 19,341ft Mount Kilimanjaro in six days - and then play the world’s highest game of rugby league.

Warrington barber Paul Heesom and former Warrington Guardian journalist, Sky Sports' Angela Powers, will also be attempting to set a world record by beating the challenge.

When reaching the summit, the team will mark out a full sized rugby pitch, erect two sets of inflatable rugby posts, and play a full game.

Briers says he will try to set a world record for the highest 40/20 ever kicked and the highest drop goal too.
